John Kratzer knows a thing or two about turning around rundown, urban property. He is the longtime CEO of JMI Realty and master developer for the 26-block, $3 billion East Village redevelopment district anchored by Petco Park. The 37-story $275 million Ballpark Village housing and mixed use project is nearing completion there. Prior to JMI, Kratzer co-founded hotel developer Homegate Hospitality Inc., which he took public, and was an investment officer with Trammell Crow Realty Advisors. Former San Diego Padres owner John Moores owns Austin, Texas-based JMI, which has a San Diego office.
