Vice President and General Manager, BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair
Retired Navy officer Bob Koerber is vice president and general manager of BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair. Previous to joining BAE and working the way up its ranks, Koerber served 26 years in the U.S. Navy, both in active and reserve duty. He retired as a captain and deputy commander of Naval Special Warfare Command. The ship repair business boasts more than 2,000 employees, three piers and one of two active dry docks servicing Navy ships on San Diego harbor. Recent accomplishments under Koerber’s leadership include the addition of a new dry dock expected to open by year’s end. The new dry dock is expected to help accommodate the additional 20 navy ships expected to be home-ported in San Diego by 2020. In July 2017, BAE was awarded a $50 million contract for ship repairs on the amphibious ship USS Comstock at its San Diego shipyard. In September, the U.S. Air Force awarded a $64.5 million deal to BAE Systems’ San Diego electronics office.
