The U.S. Navy awarded Austal USA LLC a $14.8 million award to support the post-shakedown availability of the USS Tulsa, a littoral combat ship.
Some 40 percent of the work will be performed in San Diego. The balance will be performed in Mobile, Alabama, where Austal builds its ships.
The Pentagon announced the award July 31. Work is expected to run through August 2019.
The Navy office awarding the contract was the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair Gulf Coast in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
