DonationMatch, a San Diego-based marketing platform for companies looking to streamline charitable giving, has expanded to Canada, CEO Renee Zau said this week.

“The expansion to Canada was prompted by some of our clients that had customers both in the U.S. and Canada and were asking us to help them handle donation requests from Canadian charities, too,” Zau said.

Since its inception, DonationMatch has facilitated more than $17.4 million in donations, according to the company.

Recent additions to the company’s network of organizations looking to give charitably include Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa and Napa Valley’s Meritage Resort and Spa, Zau said.

Currently the platform has 1,400 people in its system interested in linking up with companies looking to provide in-kind donations - and that total is growing: more than 400 accounts for nonprofits interested in using the platform were approved in the past 30 days, she said.

The company is based at Hera Hub, the locally headquartered co-working space for women-owned businesses.

Zau has also launched a podcast for people involved with charity fundraising, called “Events with Benefits.” Her co-hosts are Danny Hooper, a Canadian fundraising auctioneer and former radio personality, and Ian Lauth, creative director for Winspire, a Laguna Hills-based company that facilitates the placement of auction items with nonprofits for fundraising events.
