San Diego-based PriceSmart Inc., which operates a chain of discount warehouse club stores in Latin America and the Caribbean, said revenues rose about 2 percent from $793.3 million in the second quarter of its fiscal year 2017, which ended Feb. 28, compared with $777.9 million in the second quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Net income was $27.2 million in the quarter ended Feb. 28, the company said, compared with $25.9 million a year ago.

The company said it had 39 clubs in operation during the quarter compared with 38 clubs in the second quarter of the previous fiscal year.

The company announced in February that it had acquired about 242,000 square feet of land in Costa Rica to build a new warehouse club, slated to open in fall.
