San Diego-based developer Sunroad Enterprises announced March 28 that it will develop an office campus in central San Diego called Centrumplace with two new 11-story buildings.
The initial investment will exceed $100 million, according to Sunroad Enterprises. The commercial center will fall into the Centrum Master Plan, which is over eight acres of business facilities, retail, residences and green space, according to a release from the company.
The new campus will include the existing Centrum I, a 275,000-square-foot building completed in 2008, and two new class A office high rises. The campus sits between the 805 and 163 freeways in Kearny Mesa.
Centrum II and III will feature 583,000 square feet of leased space.
Construction on Centrum II (290,000 square feet) will start in 2016 and provide creative workspaces for rent by 2017. Centrum III will follow based on market demand, according to the release.
“Businesses are increasingly demanding an amenity-rich environment, which is appealing when recruiting top talent,” said Aaron Feldman, president of Sunroad Enterprises, in the release. “San Diego County is also experiencing an increased demand of large blocks of Class A office space, especially with amenities of this caliber.”
Cushman & Wakefield’s Dave Odmark, Eric Vann and Brian Starck will represent Sunroad as the leasing team. Amenities include outdoor meeting space, conference facilities, outdoor event space, lounges, a fitness center, restaurants, a bar, parking structures with valet service, an outdoor sculpture, a water feature, an organic garden and meandering paths.
