Qualcomm Inc. said on July 12 that it will distribute a cash dividend of 53 cents per share. Dividends will go out Sept. 21 to stockholders of record as of Aug. 31.
The announcement came one day after Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM) announced the impending release of its Snapdragon 821 processor, which is 10 percent faster than its top-of-the-line Snapdragon 820. The new chip is meant to complement, rather than replace, the 820 chip, marketing director Mark Shedd said in a blog post. By now, the Snapdragon 820 is in 115 premium smartphones and tablets, including the Samsung Galaxy S7.
More financial news is coming. The chipmaker, which also licenses its substantial portfolio of intellectual property related to wireless communications, announced plans to reveal its third quarter financial results after the market closes for the day on July 20.
