Lodge at Torrey Pines Plans $2.5 Million Restaurant Renovation

Operators of The Lodge at Torrey Pines plan a $2.5 million renovation of the luxury resort’s casual restaurant The Grill, located adjacent to the city-owned Torrey Pines Golf Course.

A statement from the resort’s owner, San Diego-based Evans Hotels, said the restaurant will temporarily close on Feb. 1, with a reopening planned for June 2016. Improvements will include a redesigned patio with an outdoor wood-burning rotisserie and fire pits, redesigned seating areas, a revamped kitchen, and a menu overhaul being overseen by Executive Chef Jeff Jackson.

The Grill has been a fixture at the property since 2002. During the closure, guests will be able to dine at the resort’s other on-site venues, A.R. Valentien and The Lounge.

The temporary closure of the restaurant will follow the conclusion of the Farmers Insurance Open golf tournament, being held at the Torrey Pines course Jan. 28-31. The restaurant’s renovation coincides with an upcoming year-long shutdown of the course’s 18-hole northern course, which the city has slated for an extensive renovation.

Located at 11480 N. Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla, The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a AAA Five Diamond property with 170 guest rooms. It is among several properties owned by Evans Hotels, which also include San Diego’s Bahia Resort Hotel and Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa.
