Alaska Airlines has announced an expansion of daily routes from San Jose to Southern California, including new flights serving San Diego International Airport.
A statement from the Seattle-based carrier said the local San Diego- San Jose services, starting June 5, will include departures from San Diego at 6:30 a.m., noon and 6:30 p.m.; and departures from San Jose at 8:30 a.m., 4:20 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Airline officials said the carrier is expanding three-times-daily services to connect San Francisco Bay area customers to San Diego and Santa Ana’s John Wayne Airport. The expansion will bring Alaska Airlines’ total to 28 peak-day departures to 14 destinations from Mineta San Jose International Airport.
Alaska will fly the new Southern California routes with 76-seat E175 jets, operated by SkyWest Airlines. Officials said the jets have cabin dimensions on par with a 737.
