Startup businesses — specifically technology startups — who want to apply to the next class in San Diego’s Plug and Play accelerator have a May 10 deadline to do so.

Successful candidates receive $25,000 in funding and three months of space at the Plug and Play Tech Center in Silicon Valley. In exchange, Plug and Play receives a 5 percent stake in the company. The Silicon Valley experience also includes the opportunity to pitch at EXPO in Sunnyvale for greater funding.

Organizers at Plug and Play San Diego say their organization “builds the bridge” for San Diego’s technology startups to the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale, which has raised $3 billion in funding for more than 250 startups.

So far, Plug and Play San Diego has awarded $375,000 to local startups.
