New Jersey-based medical equipment supplier Becton, Dickinson and Company announced that it completed its acquisition of San Diego-based CareFusion Corp. for $12.2 billion.
The acquisition, announced in October last year, was one of several high-profile deals in the health care sector in recent months. CareFusion makes infusion pumps and other medical devices.
The combination of the two companies' product portfolios will offer integrated medication management solutions and smart devices, from drug preparation in the pharmacy, to dispensing on the hospital floor, administration to the patient, and subsequent monitoring.
Becton, Dickinson and Company officials stated in October that the company is committed to maintaining an active presence in San Diego.
