BAE Systems Information Solutions Inc. and Tapestry Solutions, both of San Diego, are among nine companies that will compete for U.S. Navy software contracts, the Pentagon announced on March 4.

The businesses will work on strike planning and execution systems.

Under the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contracts, the nine companies will compete for $99 million worth of task orders. Vendors will compete for tasks in software development, test and evaluation, maintenance, integration, training and fielding.

BAE Systems (LSE: BA) is part of the large, publicly traded U.K.-based defense contractor. Its software operation has offices in Rancho Bernardo; it also runs a ship repair business is in Barrio Logan. Tapestry Solutions, located in Kearny Mesa, is part of Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA).
