Sempra Energy, the San Diego-based energy holding company and parent to San Diego Gas & Electric Co., unveiled its 2014 financial results Feb. 26, reporting earnings of $1.16 billion on total revenue of $11.04 billion.
In 2013, Sempra (NYSE: SRE) reported earnings of $1.0 billion on total revenue of $10.56 billion.
The business, which also owns Southern California Gas Co., reported fourth quarter earnings of $297 million on total revenue of $2.75 billion. The results were very similar to the year-ago quarter, when the business earned $282 million on total revenue of $2.71 billion.
The business said it took $21 million in charges related to the early closure of the San Onofre nuclear power plant, which it co-owns with Southern California Edison (NYSE: SCE).
Sempra also has other energy interests in the United States, Mexico and South America.
Sempra operates on a conventional calendar year, closing its books Dec. 31.
