Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to hire 85 new workers as part of an expansion underway at its Poway Walmart location, set for completion this fall.
Company officials said Wal-Mart received approvals from Poway officials in 2011 to expand an existing general merchandise store into a Supercenter location, with the addition of a grocery department.
A temporary hiring kiosk has opened at the store, located at 13425 Community Road, and the store will be hiring full- and part-time workers. Applications will be accepted seven days a week from 6 a.m. to midnight, with application and other information at careers.walmart.com.
Most new hires will begin work by the end of September, to help prepare the store for its reopening.
Arkansas-based Wal-Mart operates more than 10,800 stores in 27 countries. In San Diego County, the retailer has 27 locations, including 12 general-merchandise stores, nine supercenters, five Neighborhood Market stores and one Sam’s Club.
