Pasadena-based Dog Haus, a fast-casual restaurant chain serving custom-made gourmet hot dogs, plans to open five San Diego County locations starting later this year, after entering into an agreement with local franchisees Laura Zhang and Calvin Lee.
A company spokeswoman said the franchisees are in the process of scouting locations throughout the San Diego region. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Dog Haus, started in 2010, serves hot dogs, sausages and burgers, with customers able to choose from more than 40 toppings. The company said it has three eateries operating in Pasadena and Alhambra, with 11 franchisees signed and 51 locations in place in California, Colorado and Utah.
The company recently named Michael Brown, formerly executive chef at Nike world headquarters and Google, as its culinary director.
