The U.S. Navy said on Aug. 25 that it awarded BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair a contract for dry-dock work to the Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS Lake Erie.

The work, which could be worth as much as $78 million, will be done in San Diego and is expected to be completed by June.

Some $33 million of funding for the work expires at the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30.

The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center of San Diego awarded the contract.
