Verimatrix Inc. Names President

Verimatrix Inc. has named Steve Oetegenn as its new president, the company announced.

San Diego-based Verimatrix, which specializes in securing and enhancing revenue for multinetwork, multiscreen digital TV services around the world, said Oetegenn will now play a more strategic role in the company as more large digital video operators are transitioning to IP-centric network infrastructure.

Oetegenn was named Verimatrix’s chief sales and marketing officer in 2008, after joining the company in 2004. He has specialized in digital security and anti-piracy since 1998, working with government agencies, banks, Fortune 500 companies and Hollywood studios. Prior to joining Verimatrix, he was chief operating officer of MediaSec Technologies LLC, a company focused on digital watermarking; and COO of Argus Systems Group, a provider of Internet server security software, according to Verimatrix.

Verimatrix has reached several milestones over the past year, including the build-out of its new San Diego headquarters, winning the TV Connect award as best multiscreen TV solution for VCAS for Internet TV, surpassing 40 million screens protected with nearly 750 operators in more than 110 countries, and recognition as a leader in software-based content security for seven straight years by MRG/SNL Kagan, according to Verimatrix.

Tom Munro is CEO of Verimatrix.
