San Diego-based Cubic Corp. said recently that it received a $21 million contract to provide a virtual small-arms training system. The U.S. Army is handling the deal for an unspecified foreign military customer.

The order is for a system called Engagement Skills Trainer 2000 Plus, aka EST 2000. The order covers systems, weapons and in-country support with a key subcontractor.

Cubic Simulation Systems of Orlando, Fla. builds the EST 2000, which uses digital video projectors, high-definition screens, game-based computer graphics and ballistically accurate weapons. The system supports marksmanship, squad-level and escalation of force training.

Cubic shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CUB.
