San Diego-based Novatel Wireless said recently that a Portuguese company will use Novatel’s MT 3050 mobile tracking device in an automotive telematics package.
The MT 3050 is similar to a GPS and a cellphone, carries internal antennas, and is used for machine-to-machine communications.
Quatenus, a Portuguese systems integrator, plans to combine the Novatel hardware with its frontend application platform and bundle it with machine-to-machine wireless service from Optimus, a Portuguese mobile operator.
The system may be used for fleet management or insurance monitoring.
Novatel stock trades on the Nasdaq. Its symbol is NVTL.
