Helm’s Brewing Co., a new locally owned and operated microbrewery, will join the tenant roster this fall at Cabrillo Commerce Center in Kearny Mesa.

Helm’s is scheduled to open in October in a 3,040-square-foot space, according to a statement from Harsch Investment Properties. The Portland, Ore.-based investment and management firm owns the nine-building center at Magnatron Boulevard and Kearny Mesa Road, which is now 95 percent leased.

Helm’s General Manager Matt Johnson said the concept is to be a “community brewery” where people can gather to enjoy a variety of tasting ales. The microbrewery’s debut will follow the completion of tenant improvements that included installation of a specialized chill room and tasting-gathering room.

Harsch and Helm’s were both represented by the brokerage firm Cassidy Turley San Diego, which handles leasing at the center.
