CLCA Honors Local Commercial and Residential Landscape Contractors

The San Diego chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) recently honored 22 local landscape contractors with 2012 Beautification Awards for excellence in landscape installation and maintenance, demonstrating the best quality, construction, originality and attention to detail on 2011 projects. Fifty-seven awards were presented in 31 categories culled from 126 entries, which encompassed categories covering residential and commercial landscape construction, maintenance and renovation, along with water features, outdoor lighting and water-saving California-friendly landscaping.

The three top awards are: Sweepstakes Award for best landscape renovation to Summit Services of San Diego for the Weir Residence in Valley Center; President's Award for best landscape installation to Shasta Landscaping Inc. of San Marcos for their green-roof at UC San Diego’s Revelle College Apartments; and the Judges’ Award for commercial maintenance to The Brickman Group of San Diego for its work at The Plaza in University Towne Center.

Additional awards of note were the Humanitarian Award to Brickman for their charity work at the Boys & Girls Club of El Cajon and to Benchmark Landscape Cos. for the California-Friendly Landscape Construction in the commercial category for the work at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.

Multiple award winners included: Backyard Vacations of Carlsbad, and Benchmark Landscape Cos. of Poway, both with six awards; The Brickman Group of San Diego, Nature Designs Landscaping of Vista, Summit Services of San Diego, and Torrey Pines Landscape of San Diego, all with five awards each; AAA Landscape Specialists of San Marcos, with four awards; New Way Landscape & Tree Services of San Diego, and Shasta Landscaping of San Marcos, both with three awards; and Brian Best/Garden Spirit and DeMaria Landtech, both with two awards.

CLCA is a nonprofit, statewide trade association of licensed landscape and landscape‑related specialty contractors. The San Diego chapter, with more than 300 members, ranks among the largest of California’s 17 CLCA chapters.
