The Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians plans to break ground Oct. 29 on a $150 million expansion of Harrah’s Rincon Casino and Resort near Valley Center.

The project includes a 403-room hotel tower, expansion of the pool venue, a new lobby lounge, and a convention and entertainment center. A new indoor-outdoor Mexican restaurant and added parking are also planned.

Tribal Chairman Bo Mazzetti said in a statement that the expansion will produce approximately 650 jobs during construction and 125 new hospitality jobs after opening, generating an estimated $11.5 million in new local and state tax revenues. Construction will take about 17 months.

Harrah’s Rincon opened in 2002 and currently employs approximately 1,100. Its existing hotel has 662 rooms.
