The state Board of Equalization, which collects some $50 billion annually in property taxes, sales and use taxes, and special fees, holds a grand opening of a BOE San Diego District office March 14, the agency announced.

The new office in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area of San Diego at 15015 Avenue of Science, Suite 200, offers nine self-service kiosks, an automated self check-in, and other innovative technologies, all with the expressed purpose to make it easier for businesses and individual taxpayers to take care of their tax responsibilities.

The local office said it services about 76,000 sales and tax use permits for businesses in San Diego and Imperial counties. In 2010, the most recent statistics available, BOE’s local office handled about $11 million in taxable transactions from all business outlets in the county.
