Sorteo Games Inc., a San Diego provider of electronic lottery systems and services, announced June 7 it is providing print on demand lottery tickets for Mexico’s National Lottery following a successful rollout of the company’s wireless agent lottery terminals.

Previously, preprinted lottery tickets for the Loteria Nacional were traditionally sold by lottery agents at fixed locations and by street venders, Sorteo said. With the wireless terminals, street sellers can print real time tickets at the point of sale.

The company began rolling out the wireless terminals in October and by April had deployed about 800. By the end of the year, it said it expects to reach 3,200 terminals, Sorteo said.

Loteria Nacional said it should offer the print on demand lottery tickets at more than 2,000 major retail point of sale terminals as well as at lottery shops.

Sorteo did not provide any financial details about its involvement in the new automated lottery technology.
