Alliance Healthcare Foundation has pledged $1 million in unrestricted funds to 16 organizations through its Mission Support Grants program. To be considered in the application process, organizations were asked to demonstrate past and planned innovations, collaboration with other organizations and each organization’s unique role in improving health and wellness across the region. The four organizations receiving $100,000 each were ElderHelp of San Diego; Environmental Health Coalition; Horn of Africa Community in North America; and Somali Family Service of San Diego. The remaining 12 received $30,000. Alliance works to advance health and wellness for the most vulnerable — the poor, working poor, children and homeless in San Diego and Imperial counties … The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego held its Rhythm & Vine at the Broadway Pier, raising $108,000. The proceeds will support the summer camp programs. Partners included Tomlinson Foundation, Ashford University, Mendtronix, DLA Piper and Cox Communications … Ecolife was awarded a $10,000 grant from SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund. The grant will support Ecolife’s Ejido Communities Fuel-Wood Project in Central Mexico … The Habit Burger Grill in Solana Beach raised $1,200 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito and Pardee Aquatics Center. All proceeds from guests who visited Habit Burger recently were donated back to the club to support aquatic scholarships for families in need … A senior vice president, investments, at Merrill Lynch, Courtney Liddy, was recognized on the “America’s Top 100 Women Advisors” list published by Barron’s magazine. This is the second consecutive year that Liddy was named to the list … Takeda California donated $10,000 to San Diego Hospice for its fundraiser. Proceeds will go to supporting a higher quality of life for hospice patients and their families who are coping with grief … In partnership with KPBS, Union Bank pays tribute to members of the community who are making a difference by improving their workplace, neighborhoods, region and the world. The 2012 LGBT Pride Month honorees are Larry Baza and Jeri Dilno. Baza is an arts administrator and advocate who has been driven by the belief that access to the arts is vitally important to a civilized society. Dilno has spent her career working as a political and social justice advocate on behalf of women’s and LGBT civil rights … The San Diego Armed Services YMCA, Barona Resort and Casino and KSON sponsored the 6th Annual Christmas You Missed, recently. Military members and their families who were separated by deployment during the 2011 holiday season celebrated the joys of the holidays with activities such as crafts, cookie decoration and a holiday breakfast sponsored by Souplantation. Other sponsors included Pacific Marine Credit Union, Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, BAE Systems and Raytheon … Patti Roscoe and Jim Tiffany are being honored at the St. Paul’s Senior Homes & Services Gala on Aug. 25 at Paradise Point Resort & Spa. Proceeds from the event will benefit the opening of St. Paul’s PACE Center in South Bay San Diego … Jewish Family Service has earned the STAR Recognition Award from the Beverly Foundation, an organization that researches, develops technical materials, and assists with facilitation of mobility and transportation for older adults. In addition to the award, JFS received a $10,000 give which will help the organization to continue to provide transportation services to older adults.
