San Diego-based Jerome’s Furniture plans to open its first San Bernardino County store in April, bringing the family-operated retailer’s total to nine showrooms.

The company announced Feb. 15 that it has acquired a former Linder’s Furniture location at 11750 E. 4th St. in Rancho Cucamonga, and has begun renovating the 41,000-square-foot site.

President and CEO Lee Goodman said it will be the company’s third showroom to debut outside of San Diego County, following two Riverside County openings in 2010.

Seven current Jerome’s employees will switch to the new location, and the company expects to hire about 20 additional sales, customer service and warehouse positions, according to a statement.

Jerome’s last year was named by the industry magazine Furniture Today as one of the fastest growing furniture retailers in the U.S. based on sales. The company reported revenue of $95.5 million in 2010 and $102 million in 2011.

Jerome’s was founded in 1954 by Jim and Esther Navarra. Its current chairman and namesake is their son, Jerome “Jerry” Navarra.
