The hotel replacing the Seacoast Inn, a property built in the 1950s and since razed in Imperial Beach, is slated to open in spring 2013 under Marriott International Inc.’s Autograph Collection luxury brand, according to Allison Rolfe, director of planning for developer Pacifica Cos.

Operator Pacifica Host Hotels, a division of San Diego-based Pacifica Cos., began construction last year on a $32 million, 78-room replacement of Seacoast Inn, which long occupied a prime oceanfront site in Imperial Beach. The four-story replacement is expected to include a restaurant, spa and conference space.

The hotel was originally set to open by late summer, but the schedule has been revised as developers work with Marriott on the rebranding, Pacifica officials said.

Pacifica representatives have said the hotel is intended to be a “catalyst project,” to spur other redevelopment along Imperial Beach’s waterfront.
