Hotel La Jolla Relaunched After $4M Makeover

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has completed a $4 million renovation and relaunched the 110-room Hotel La Jolla, one of three hotels the San Francisco-based company operates in the San Diego region.

A company statement said public spaces have been redesigned as part of the makeover, including the lobby, pool deck and lounge, meeting space, fitness center and business center.

Guest rooms and landscaping have been updated, and the property’s 11th-floor restaurant, Cusp Dining & Drinks, has been redesigned with an adjacent 950-square-foot event space with a panoramic view.

A new ground-floor venue, called Hiatus, includes 2,000 square feet of open-air relaxation space, with fire pits, chaise lounges and an outdoor bar.

The property, at 7955 La Jolla Shores Drive, is owned by Westport Capital Partners LLC of Connecticut and locally based Cove Equity Group LLC. The redesign was conceptualized by Gulla Jonsdottir, whose past projects include the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, and La Jolla’s Claude-Anthony Marengo.

Kimpton also operates Hotel Solamar and Hotel Palomar in downtown San Diego.
