The New Children’s Museum’s Sambas for a Purpose gala was held at the museum Aug. 27 with Michael and Lisette Farrell as chairs and Olivia and Peter Farrell, founder of ResMed, as honorary chairs. Michael Farrell is ResMed’s president, Americas. Sponsors included ResMed, Farrell Family Foundation, Hughes Marino, US Bank, Torrey Pines Bank and Univision San Diego. The $540,000 net proceeds from the event will support free visits for any child in a disadvantaged school, provide art-making opportunities and take-home projects for kids. It will also distribute free turnkey projects and materials to every visiting educator. Museum Executive Director Rachel Teagle said, “As arts education disappears from public schools, we need the community’s help to ensure that the museum fills the gap.
