Poseidon Resources says construction of its long-delayed Carlsbad desalination plant is apparently closer, now that the local City Council has approved a pact Sept. 13 with the San Diego County Water Authority. The agency will supply the city fresh water from the plant, once it’s up and running. The new economic mantra is jobs, and this project will supply those in spades, so to speak. The project would create 2,000 positions and generate more than $350 million in economic activity during its 36-month construction phase, say Poseidon officials. Moreover, once operations begin, the plant will require 400 permanent workers and pump $50 million annually into the regional economy … Got cash for that new venture you want to start? The Golden Seeds in New York City and the Band of Angels in the San Francisco Bay Area will join TCA in the new network, which will enable professional investors to place larger bets on entrepreneurs with great ideas along with very solid business plans.
