The event raised $105,000 for wounded troops, children of soldiers killed in action and veterans … The Aztec for Life Homecoming celebration to benefit the Marshall Faulk Foundation was held Oct. 7 at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center. The event netted $115,000 for the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA the San Diego State University Aztec Club — to support SDSU Aztec Football Program scholarships — and other area community groups, all of whom develop opportunities for at-risk youth … The Santee Lowe’s selected Home of Guiding Hands as this year’s “Lowe’s Heroes.” Seven employees from the Santee Lowe’s home improvement center volunteered their time to re-landscape the front yard of the Cumbre house Oct. 19. The Lowe’s store also donated rocks, plants, a bench and a shed, worth more than $1,500 … The eighth annual WiLDCOAST Dempsey Holder Ocean Festival and Surf Contest was held Oct. 16 at the Imperial Beach Pier. Fund to support the Museum of Making Music. Focusing on youth at risk, a total of $148,000 was awarded to Barrio Logan College Institute, Rancho Santa Fe Performing Arts Center, Second Chance, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, Interfaith Community Services, Shakti Rising, Urban Youth Collaborative and Natural High – Sundt Foundation.
