The 7th Annual Ronald McDonald House Charities, San Diego’s Dream House Raffle awarded the grand prize winner Amado Evangelista $1 million. This year 28,500 tickets were sold, making this the most successful Dream House Raffle in the organization’s history. “These funds are vital to helping us provide lodging, care and comfort to the family members we serve each year,” said Chuck Day, president and CEO of RMHC-SD. In addition to the grand prize, cash and prizes valued at $215,000 were awarded during the raffle …The Design-Build Institute of America, Western Pacific Region, presented David Umstot, vice chancellor for facilities management for the San Diego Community College District, with the chapter’s inaugural DBIA Leadership Award. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership in the advance of best design-build practices and of design-build as the project delivery method of choice … Takeda San Diego participated in the United Nations’ World Environment Day on June 3. Staff members spent the day volunteering at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and the Japanese Friendship Garden at Balboa Park. Takeda also provided a $15,000 donation to the Japanese Friendship Garden … The Preuss School UCSD raised $375,000 at its annual benefit celebration, A World of Possibilities held May 14 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine. The school is a charter middle and high school for motivated, low-income students. Students come from 41 ZIP codes, all with the common goal of becoming the first in their families to graduate from college … The Carlsbad Educational Foundation received gifts totaling $10,000 in support of the K-5 music education the foundation funds at Carlsbad Unified School District. Toyota Carlsbad and Lexus Carlsbad each donated $2,500 which was matched by The Lexus Pursuit of Potential and Toyota Dealer matching funds programs … The Credit Union National Association presented Mission Federal Credit Union with a Diamond Award for its groundbreaking Mission 4 R Schools campaign, which raises money for local schools. The award was presented at the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council Diamond Awards … Volunteers from Deloitte’s San Diego office helped out at King-Chavez Preparatory Academy June 10 with students in grades six through eight. The volunteers led discussions about online safety awareness and social media risks. The event was part of a national effort hosted by Deloitte for their 12th annual Impact Day, a massive celebration of the organization’s year-round commitment to workplace volunteerism … The 16th Annual Golden Watchdog & Golden Fleece Awards Dinner sponsored by San Diego County Taxpayers Association, raised $140,000 to support its efforts in serving as taxpayers advocate. Rancho Guejito Corp. was the title sponsor … Karl Strauss Brewing Company held its 8th Annual Beach to Brewery Beer + Music Fest May 14 at the main brewery in Pacific Beach. The event raised $10,000 for the Surfrider Foundation San Diego Chapter which is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of oceans and beaches. The Friday before the event, Karl Strauss hosted its 4th Annual Beach Cleanup with 30 staff members participating. The group collected 65 pounds of trash … The Jewish Women’s Foundation, a program of the Jewish Community Foundation, held its annual luncheon last month. The organization was formed 18 months ago to promote self-esteem for Jewish teenage girls living in San Diego County. The foundation has awarded $245,000 in grants to support five programs throughout the county … Agents from Prudential California Realty helped raise awareness about the Carlsbad Unified School District’s need for more funds. As a result of their efforts, a $2,500 gift was made to The Charitable Foundation to support enrichment programs that provide advanced educational opportunities for students.
