Verve Wireless Names New CEO, Opens Office in Washington, D.C.

Verve Wireless, which operates from corporate headquarters in Encinitas, has hired a new CEO. The business that offers mobile publishing and advertising platforms for local media companies said Tom MacIsaac has been appointed chief executive officer. MacIsaac will be based in the company’s new Washington, D.C.-area office.

Most recently, MacIsaac was CEO of Newton, Mass.-based ExtendMedia Corp., which was acquired by Cisco Systems Inc. in September.

“It’s the perfect time for Tom to join our team,” said Art Howe, co-founder and previous Verve CEO, who will continue as chairman of the board of directors. “We’ve spent the past three years laying the groundwork for growth — offering publishers differentiated tools to build and monetize their mobile businesses and weaving that together into the largest local mobile display advertising network.”

Founded in early 2005, the privately held company has raised a total of $12 million in venture capital, including $7 million in a recent round led by BlueRun Ventures. Verve, which is located at 725 S. Coast Highway 101, has more than 20 employees locally.
