The San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp. set a goal of attracting at least 1,500 new high-paying jobs to the region this year.
“Our renewed efforts in corporate attraction and expansion programs are timed with an economy that is showing some signs of life,” said Julie Meier Wright, who is leaving as chief executive of the nonprofit at the end of June.
To help in both attracting new businesses here and retain existing ones, EDC recently hired three new executives, two vice presidents involved in business development, and one for policy initiatives.
EDC also added seven new corporate clients to its portfolio, reports Lauree Sahba, chief operating officer. Clients considering moving their operations to San Diego include Motorola Mobility.
