The Oceanside Museum of Art held its OMA Summer Soiree July 23 at the Central Pavilion and on Pier View Way. The $80,000 raised will go toward supporting the museum’s mission of bringing innovative exhibitions and arts education programs to North County. The Medal of Distinction was presented to Carol Mitchell and Loretta Ames for their longtime support and contributions to the success of the museum … Scripps Health and the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito Foundation awarded nine scholarships to North County students who are interested in pursuing careers in the health care field. The scholarship program was created by Leonard Polster eight years ago and is funded by the Leonard and Edith Polster Foundation … BIA Cares funded $30,000 in materials and construction services to build and rehab structures at the Noah Homes community in Spring Valley, an organization which provides residential services for adults with intellectual and development disabilities … The Coronado Tourism Improvement District will grant up to $20,000 for local events that increase the number of guests to Coronado. The approved grants, up to $4,000 each, will allow organizers to better promote their events in San Diego County … Quentin Jammer and his wife Alicia, were part of the organizing team of Jammin Under the Stars, a fundraiser held July 15 at a private home in Rancho Santa Fe. The event raised $80,000 to support programs that empower the students of San Pasqual Academy. Symbolic Motor Car Co., Mutual of Omaha and Schubach Aviation were sponsors along with Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille who provided catering for the evening … Barney & Barney will present Rock The Foundation at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Sept. 22. Funds raised will benefit the Barney & Barney Foundation and will support programs of five San Diego charities … Toussaint Academy San Diego received 40 round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines as part of the airline’s 40th anniversary initiative to honor nonprofit organizations that help make our communities a better place. Toussaint Academy will use the tickets for visiting colleges, educational field trips and to support staff development … Torrey Pines Bank pledged $50,000 to San Diego Symphony in honor of their Centennial Capital Campaign. The bank was also a sponsor of their fourth annual Tux ’n’ Tennies Summer Bash fundraiser held June 25 … Phil and Amy Mickelson were at Target Mission Valley Aug. 20 to help children shop for back to school essentials. The children who were in need of clothing and supplies were chosen to attend this Target sponsored event … The Annual UCP Golf Classic was held Aug. 8 at The Crossings at Carlsbad golf course. Title sponsor for the event was Rite Aid Pharmacy and associate sponsors were San Diego Self Storage, Solar Turbines, Union Bank and Interior Specialists. The $66,000 raised will support United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County … The Office Depot Foundation donated 3,600 “sackpacks” Aug. 17 to kids going back to school, at the Office Depot store located on Rio San Diego Drive. “In keeping with our mission — Listen, Learn, Care — we’ve created these fun and exciting ‘sackpacks’ in response to what kids have told us they like,” said foundation President Mary Wong. Those who received “sackpacks” included Bayside Community Center, YMCA of Central County and Pazzaz Inc./New ERAA Back to School Conference … The 12th annual Fore the Casa Kids Golf Tournament to benefit Casa de Amparo was held Aug. 15 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort. Funds raised support the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect. Wells Fargo and Grant General Contractors were Pinnacle Partners and Kapsch, FDR Construction and Bassett Furniture were Corporate Partners.
