On Nov. 15, San Diego Gas & Electric Co. managers and guests presented the utility’s one millionth smart meter to David and Leilani Ross in Paradise Hills, the very same folks who received a gold plated spinning meter for being customer No. 500,000 way back in 1971. What are the chances of that? The 39-year-old workhorse will be mounted on a plaque so the couple can admire it on their living room wall ... Happy Birthday! To celebrate year No. 3 in business, the South Bay Expressway donated $1 from each toll collected Nov. 19 to charity, and said it wanted to raise $30,000 from the one-day event. The expressway also donated 25 cents per toll to the San Diego Police Officers Association fund for the family of Officer Chris Wilson, who was killed in the line of duty Oct. 29 … Update: High-profile entrepreneur Neil Senturia, who most recently headed up the now-defunct online media site San Diego News Network, publishes “I’m There for You Baby, The Entrepreneur’s Guide to the Galaxy.” In it, he talks about his experience in funding and running startups.
