Mad Catz in the Black for Quarter, Year

Mad Catz Interactive Inc., a San Diego maker of video game accessories, reported a net profit of $800,000 for its 2010 fiscal year fourth quarter ended March 31, compared to a net loss of $3.7 million for the like quarter of its prior fiscal year, the firm said June 10.

Sales for the quarter were $26.3 million, up 15.4 percent from sales in the prior fiscal year’s fourth quarter.

For the full fiscal year, Mad Catz reported net income of $4.5 million, compared to a net loss for the prior fiscal year of $32.6 million.

Sales for the 2010 fiscal year were $119 million, up 5.7 percent from the prior fiscal year, and a record.

The company didn’t provide a detailed forecast but said it expects total sales for the current fiscal year to rise by “the high single digits.”

Traded on the American Stock Exchange under MCZ, shares rose by a penny to 46 cents in midday June 11 activity, and have ranged from 24 to 57 cents over the past 52 weeks.
