Procopio Replacing Reed Elsevier Name on Downtown High-Rise

Downtown residents and workers will soon notice a new moniker atop the Golden Eagle Plaza Building when Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch moves its headquarters from the neighboring Union Bank Building.

Publishing giant Reed Elsevier, whose name graces the top of the 22-story high-rise located at 525 B St., renewed a lease on just two of four floors following the sale of its Harcourt trade divisions last year, according to Cushman & Wakefield agent Matthew Carlson, who represented the landlord.

“We made (Elsevier) move down in the building making way for the top four floors to be made available to Procopio,” he said.

Procopio, which places a strong emphasis on environmental law, seized the opportunity to move into the “green” building and place its nameplate high in the sky. It signed a long-term lease to occupy the top four floors, the 13th floor and additional space on the ground floor, beginning May 1, Carlson said.

Besides Elsevier, Procopio will also share the building with Golden Eagle Insurance and the U.S. Navy.

Lawyers Assist In Sale: A team of attorneys from the San Diego office of Latham & Watkins assisted Carlsbad-based SkinMedica in the sale of two prescription skin care lines to Bayer HealthCare on Sept. 4.

Scott Wolfe, partner-in-charge of the firm’s North County offices, along with partner Steven Chinowsky and associates Matthew Bush and Nicole Baker, led the deal.

Terms of the transaction call for Berlin-based Intendis to pay an undisclosed sum for SkinMedica’s Desonate and NeoBenz product lines.
