Life Technologies of Carlsbad has completed the sale of its SQL*LIMS business to New Jersey-based LabVantage Solutions for an undisclosed sum, finalizing a deal struck in late June.
The acquisition gives the Bridgewater, N.J.-based lab information management systems provider a system for tracking raw materials and samples, analyzing samples, collecting and reporting data and transferring information to other systems.
The majority of SQL*LIMS employees, including General Manager Pat Pijanowski, have also joined the company, LabVantage said. Pijanowski will serve as chief operating officer.
Life Technologies President and COO Mark Stevenson said in a statement at the time the deal was made that, although the LIMS business was “an important asset for a segment of our customers, it was not a perfect fit with our strategic direction.”
In its most recent regulatory filing, Life Technologies called the business a “small product line.”
The company said it does not expect the sale to have a material effect on its financial status for 2009.
