Scripps Coastal Medical Center opened Oct. 20. It will be home to eight family and internal medicine physicians and one nurse practitioner, with plans to add pediatricians later this year. Located at 2176 Salk Ave., the new 40,000-square-foot Carlsbad site was developed by H.G. Fenton Co. The center is one of two new Scripps medical locations to open in North County within the past two months, with Scripps Clinic Rancho Bernardo having opened a 150,000-square-foot facility in September.

Ware Malcomb has announced that design has been completed and construction has begun for renovation of Ferrari of San Diego at 7514 Girard Ave. in La Jolla. Ware Malcomb is providing architectural and interior design services for the renovation of the 7,580-square-foot, two-story boutique auto dealership. Exterior enhancements include the installation of a structural glass entry system, supportive metal panel signage, storefront glass window glazing systems and aluminum framing alongside a glass double door entrance.

Sully-Jones Roofing Co. has completed re-roofing two apartment buildings at 1239 and 1247 Robinson Ave. in Hillcrest. Sully-Jones installed approximately 9,200 square feet of new Polara Roofing on two buildings in the apartment community owned by Darrell Holt. The contract was valued at approximately $29,000.

Grossmont Union High School District reports significant progress on its $274 million school construction program funded by Proposition H. Phase 2B projects, involving the modernization of 142 classrooms, have been completed at every campus and district facility. An additional 59 classrooms are currently being upgraded. At the conclusion of this phase in early 2009, a total of 277 classrooms will have been remodeled to better serve the needs of East County students and staff.
