RJC Architects Lands $7.5M Navy Contract for Enlisted Quarters, Facilities

RJC Architects, a local architecture and construction management company, has been awarded a $7.5 million contract by the U.S. Navy. The contract is for design and consulting work at various Navy and Marine Corps facilities located primarily in California as well as Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. The general scope of the work is for the repair, renovation and construction of enlisted quarters, laboratories, food services facilities, and fitness, training and industrial facilities.

Construction is complete for Highland Skypark, a 57,000-square-foot office campus sitting on 4.7 acres off of Ruffin Road in Kearny Mesa. San Diego-based Smith Consulting Architects provided full architectural services for the $5 million project. The work included designing five office buildings ranging in size from 4,765 to 20,060 square feet.

Architects Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker provided full architectural design services for the expansion and renovation of the 3,900-square-foot Rancho Bernardo Inn’s spa facilities at 17550 Bernardo Oaks Drive in Rancho Bernardo. Seven small spa-garden pavilions totaling 1,000 square feet were added to accommodate the expansion and provide private outdoor treatment areas. The spa building was gutted to enhance treatment rooms, including a new relaxation room. Roel Construction Co. was the general contractor.

Serenata, a new neighborhood in College Grove, will celebrate its grand opening May 4 when the model homes will be open to the public. The opening will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and guests can enjoy a cooking demonstration from Sam the Cooking Guy while touring the neighborhood. Serenata’s three-bedroom, two-bath homes will feature decks, upscale appliances and attached garages with private entrances. Sized at approximately 1,117 square feet, the homes are priced from the high $300,000s.

Good & Roberts Inc. has been awarded a contract by Rexford Industrial Realty & Management Inc. for improvements at 5803 Newton Drive in Carlsbad. The renovations include replacing one stairway with an elevator and creating a new break room.

KTGY Group Inc. has been recognized by the Building Industry Association of Southern California and the Home Builders Association of Northern California as a finalist in six categories in the prestigious MAME Awards competition, including Best Community, Best Attached Home and Best Architectural Design. City Square, a high-density community designed by KTGY, was recognized by BIA of Southern California as a MAME Awards finalist in four categories: Best Attached Home Plan , Under 1,500 Square Feet for Plans 1, 2 and 3; and the MAME Award for Best Attached Community of the Year. Barratt American of Carlsbad is the builder.

CoreNet Global, a professional association for corporate real estate executives, were set for members to roll up their sleeves May 2-3 for the renovation of Bayside Community Center in Linda Vista. The project involves landscape improvements, general upgrades and classroom painting. Volunteers were arranged to be on-site both days at the community center, at 2202 Comstock St.
