OFFICE ISSUES

Recent challenge: Coordinating local efforts in preparation for future growth.

Measures of success: To see the face of a widow holding her child or children and letting them know that America mourns their loss and deeply cares for those who protect and serve our country.

Smartest move: Starting a West Coast hub to channel support in San Diego to assist surviving families.

Missed opportunity: The real missed opportunity is a son or daughter not having a father to care for them anymore.

Misconception: That the Marine Corps , Law Enforcement Foundation is a pro-war, conservative and right-wing organization. Our purpose is to assist the children of military families who have suffered the terrible loss of a loved one.

PROFESSIONAL INSIGHTS

Personal path to nonprofit work: Having a great deal of pride for our country and for those who serve to protect our freedom. It seems like the very least one could do to support our military, whose duty may call for them to give their life.

Toughest aspect: The emotion of presenting a bond to the family , knowing the pain and hurt they are experiencing.

Most surprising aspect: Every day, donors, without being asked, who have heard about us and they respond with contributions.

Biggest pain: The military makes up the backbone of San Diego and it would be nice to see more media coverage so we can tell our story and share our success.

Greatest pleasure: Hearing San Diegans share their deep appreciation for those who serve our country and knowing all that appreciation will translate to a bright future for MCLEF and benefits for surviving military families.

INTROSPECTIONS

Best recent moment: Celebrating the birth of my daughter.

Worst recent moment: I must be on a good streak or conveniently erased it from memory, nothing comes to mind.

Dream for another life: Moving my family to a white sand beach and teach scuba diving.

Greatest inspirations: My wife and daughter.

Downtime: Cooking ribs and making chile verde.

Causes: Marine Corps , Law Enforcement and anything that improves San Diego.
