Cisterra Partners LLC has hired James Edwards as senior vice president of development. He will be responsible for all aspects of commercial development, ranging from acquisitions to overall development management. Edwards has more than 20 years' experience in all areas of architecture, master planning, pre-construction and construction management. Most recently, Edwards was vice president of commercial development for Kilroy Realty.

DefenseWeb Technologies Inc. has hired Nancy Adams as a software development and systems engineering specialist, Scott Morris as a senior business and technology professional and Denise Ciotti as a sales and management executive for its new Washington, D.C., location. Cadence Pharmaceuticals Inc. has appointed James Breitmeyer its executive vice president of development and chief medical officer and Christopher Twomey to its board of directors. Most recently, Breitmeyer served as chief medical officer at Applied Molecular Evolution. SGX Pharmaceuticals Inc. has appointed Terence Rugg its vice president of development and chief medical officer. He will be responsible for leading the company's drug development programs. "I am delighted that someone of Terry's stature and experience is joining the SGX team. Terry's strong leadership and expertise will be a great asset as we work to advance our oncology discovery pipeline through to clinical development," said Mike Grey, SGX's president and chief executive officer. Most recently, Rugg served as vice president and head of oncology for U.S. medical affairs for Sanofi-Aventis.

The Ubiquitous Platform Systems division of Hitachi America Ltd. has appointed Daniel Lee its vice president of marketing. He will be responsible for directing Hitachi's U.S.-based marketing, communications and advertising strategies and brand awareness.
Restaurants and Hotels
Hard Rock Hotel San Diego has appointed Melissa Olsen its director of sales. She will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of sales for the hotel. Most recently, Olsen was associate director of sales, West region, for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. Hall Winery in Napa Valley has named Jeff Gollaher its California sales manager and will be based in San Diego. He will be responsible for the management of sales in California. Gollaher has 17 years' experience in the food and beverage industries and most recently was a wine specialist for the Estates Group for the past three years.
San Diego State University's College of Business Administration has named Bruce Reinig the new chairman of its Information and Decision Systems Department. Reinig started at SDSU in 2000 as an associate professor and was promoted to full professor in 2005. San Diego State University also has named Randolph Baker the inaugural chairman of the university's Sycuan Institute on Tribal Gaming. "With the institute's new chair now in place, we look forward to the creation of a program that will train the talent that Native American casinos will be needing for many years to come," said Nubia Ruiz, director of education. Three professors, Eniola Akindemowo, Jinsook Ohta and Neill Tseng, have joined the Thomas Jefferson School of Law faculty.

Joe Tash has joined Southwest Strategies LLC as director of public affairs. He will be responsible for creating public and media relations strategies for clients with government, media and key issues. Tash has 22 years' experience in journalism and public relations. Formula has hired Emily Agan as director of the agency's business, technology and travel division. She will be responsible for overseeing the division as well as providing strategic public relations counsel, creative program development and budget management. Most recently, Agan was an account manager at the Ardell Group.

Bryan Min, the president and chief executive officer of Epsilon Systems Solutions Inc., has been appointed to serve on the board of directors of the San Diego Convention Center Corp. Min was nominated by Mayor Jerry Sanders and his appointment was approved by the San Diego City Council.
Marvin Velastegui has joined Cozen O'Connor's San Diego office as an associate. He will be practicing in the firm's insurance department. Most recently, Velastegui was an associate with Stutz Shinoff & Holtz. Daniel Yannuzzi has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP's Del Mar office. Yannuzzi has experience in all areas of intellectual property with an emphasis in patent litigation, licensing and transactional matters and portfolio development. Most recently, he was with Morrison & Foerster. Fabiola Franco has joined the marketing department of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP as marketing manager. She will be responsible for managing and coordinating Hispanic and Latin American conferences, events and client development. Most recently, she was a manager and executive producer at KPBS-TV.
Ripping Revolution has added Nick Carter as vice president of market strategy. He will be responsible for leading the sales efforts for the Eastern market, while providing market strategy and business development for all markets. Exponents Inc. has promoted Rip Jones to vice president of sales. He will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of sales, including dealer development, show services and customer service. Jones has served as the company's dealer sales manager since 2003. Tom Hedges has been promoted to vice president of marketing at RosArt Multimedia Inc. Hedges has been with the company since 1997. The San Diego Better Business Bureau has hired Andrea Gardner as marketing coordinator. She will be responsible for the marketing activities as well as special events. NTN Buzztime Inc. has appointed Kendra Berger to chief financial officer, succeeding Andy Wrobel. She has been serving as director of the company since July 2005. Most recently, she was with PricewaterhouseCoopers for the past seven years.

Studley has hired Michael Labelle and T.D. Rolf. Both will be responsible for acquiring new business. Labelle has more than 16 years' experience in commercial real estate and most recently was senior director at Cushman & Wakefield. Rolf has extensive experience in providing strategic real estate plans and is versed in lease and sublease negotiations, acquisitions and dispositions.
