Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has named Pam Richardson general manager of Hotel Solamar, the San Francisco-based company’s new hotel scheduled to open Downtown in April.
Richardson, 45, is serving a second consecutive term as president of the San Diego Hotel-Motel Association. She is also on the board of directors of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Richardson had served as general manager of the Hilton San Diego Airport/Harbor Island since 1995 and has more than 20 years’ experience in hotel management positions.
The split-level, 235-room, boutique hotel, began construction at the corner of Sixth Avenue and J Street near Petco Park in January 2004 at a cost of $52.5 million. It is Kimpton’s 40th hotel property nationwide and the first in San Diego.
Hotel Solamar has a 10-story tower housing guest rooms connected to a four-story structure that houses the lobby and a rooftop terrace with a pool and bar.
JMI Realty, a private San Diego-based investment and development firm owns the property. Kimpton will be the manager.
