San Diego's Sequenom, Inc. announced Dec. 19 that Lincoln, Neb.-based GeneSeek, Inc. will use Sequenom's genetic analysis system to genotype cattle.
Sequenom declined to disclose the value of the contract. Sequenom's genetic analysis system, MassARRAY, precisely measures genetic target material.
Sequenom, founded in 1994, reported third-quarter 2005 revenues of $4.6 million and a net loss of $6 million. GeneSeek is a private biotechnology company focusing on agribusiness, food safety and pharmaceuticals.
Sequenom, traded on the Nasdaq as SQNM, was trading at 70 cents per share late in the morning of Dec. 19.
