San Diego's MIT Enterprise Forum has formed an alliance with Connect, the two tech-centered organizations have announced.

A Connect staff member, Nepi Ilgaz, has been named executive director of the MIT Enterprise Forum. Connect will also provide staff, logistical, infrastructure and marketing support to the MIT Enterprise Forum.

The MIT Enterprise Forum produces monthly networking events. These often feature a panel of business experts discussing a technology-oriented company. The group is affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which has similar chapters in major cities around the world.

Connect, which has been in San Diego since 1985, produces get-togethers and offers a variety of services supporting the high-tech and life science industries.

The San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum will continue to operate as a chapter of the broader MIT Enterprise Forum organization and maintain a separate board of advisers.

Ilgaz, the new executive director, came to Connect from the Regional Technology Alliance, an organization once funded by the state that went under the wing of Connect in February.

The local MIT/Connect alliance will be reviewed on an annual basis, according to an announcement from Connect.
