TUDLA Celebrates First Anniversary With Ribbon Cutting

Technology User Database, Latin America celebrated its first anniversary June 30 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new calling center.

TUDLA brings Latin American client information to telecommunications and technology corporations worldwide.

Owner and president Julie Gorton invested private capital, along with an $80,000 Small Business Administration loan for woman-owned businesses, to start TUDLA. In the past year, the firm has grown into a small business with 10 full-time employees, six part-time employees and several contractors in Central and South America, said Gary Gorton, chief financial officer.

The company counts Dell, Compaq and IBM among its clients and is projecting $2 million in revenues for next year, he said.

TUDLA assists high-tech firms with new market analysis, business-to-business market strategies, and brand loyalty. It provides data to the computer, network and peripheral industries, said Ben Sanchez, vice president of business development for TUDLA.

In December, TUDLA launched a new segment of business partnership within the telecommunication industry. TUDLA’s expanded data includes telephone systems, ISP, local and long-distance providers, wireless, cellular and satellite communications providers, Sanchez said.

As the cost to pursue business opportunities increases, providers must find ways to market their best customers effectively. TUDLA’s data collection activities identify market growth opportunities, emerging trends and the need for technologies and distributors in 17 Latin American countries, he said.

Al Converse, financial division chief of the San Diego branch of the Small Business Association, called TUDLA one of its success stories.
