Workforce Partnership Secures Federal Funding

The San Diego Workforce Partnership, the regional job training agency, said it has received $4 million in federal funds from the county to finance a summer youth program to place students in paid internships.

Last year, the program placed more than 2,300 youths in jobs provided by 400 employers, but the program is seeking even more participation by local businesses this summer.

“For employers, the program provides access to enthusiastic youths who will become full-time participants in the workforce of the future,” said Larry Fitch, the Workforce Partnership’s president.

For more information on the program, call the Workforce Partnership or one of the six career centers the organization operates in the county.
