ViaSat Gets $45M Delivery Order

Carlsbad-based ViaSat Inc. announced July 18 that it received a $44.9 million delivery order for military electronics from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, San Diego. The command is better known as Spawar.

Specifically, ViaSat will deliver the eighth lot of Multifunctional Information Distribution System wireless terminals for air and ground applications.

These terminals allow for greater battle awareness in air, land and sea by creating a digital map of the battlefield and synchronizing communication. ViaSat expects to deliver the terminals between June 2008 and the second quarter of 2009. Customers include the Navy, Marine Corps, Army and Air Force, as well as the Portuguese and German militaries.

The order is part of a defense contract ViaSat received in 2000.

ViaSat trades on the Nasdaq under the symbol VSAT. Shares closed July 18 at $31.75.
