The alumni of United States International University have named Peter Q. Davis, chairman of the Bank of Commerce, as alumnus of the year, and will honor him at a dinner this week.
Davis earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from California Western University , the name under which USIU was founded , in 1963. He was a candidate for mayor of San Diego and was selected for this year’s alumni honor because of “his proven record of leadership and accomplishment in business and community affairs,” according to a statement distributed by the university.
Davis and other outstanding graduates will be honored at the university’s annual alumni reunion dinner on April 29 at the Orfila Vineyards and Winery, 13455 San Pasqual Road, Escondido. A reception at 6 p.m. will be followed by a dinner and awards ceremony at 7 p.m.
